Miro vases combine Art Deco's vivacious spirit with intense color, high craft and radiant currents of light. The Miro design chisels abstract, sculptural, botanical geometries into charming vases of fantastic size, finish and impact. Fabulous hot red color.
Art Deco Glass Techniques Used in Modern Ways
Miro's naturalistic design is a form of cameo glass, which encases one layer of colored glass inside another. Artisans hand-chisel and hand-carve-back the outer layer to reveal a depth of color variations that intensify the optics of pigmented glass. These have convincing Art Deco styling.
Miro vases are mouth-blown into molds and annealed (slow, controlled cooling). Next, they're cold-worked (wheel cut, acid etched, hand-chiseled, rasp filed and wheel polished). The signature chisel cuts are called "cold work" because these techniques are done after the glass cools. Cold work creates exciting effects like intense color, tonal contrast and iced matte surfaces.
Miro vases are created in a Direct Carving style, which values spontaneity over academic precision. The approach, pioneered by Brancusi, still influences contemporary artists. These vases are also about an influential idea called "truth to materials", which prefers simple, abstracted forms that highlight the unique beauty of color, surface and materials.
For the Connoisseur
Miro's modern design has notable predecessors. When you see a nature-inspired design that uses heavy, intensely colored, deeply carved glass in fire and ice jewel tones it is likely you'll think of Lalique or Galle.Miro vases require a double take. Both the legacy products and Miro vases are strongly cut, thick-walled vessels in vivid colors with surface frosting and stylized geometric designs. Both deliver artisan cred, big design impact and Art Deco's blithe spirit. Product Details:

- Keep purchases dust-free. Blot stains and liquids. When you need deeper cleaning, use a lightly damp cloth.
- Keep your purchase in a stable temperature and away from direct sun.
- Do not use any caustic chemicals or abrasives. Stay away from harsh cleaners like alcohol, acetone or ammonia. Only use glass cleaner on glass.
