A Glimmering Oval
The Opal mirror is an ingenious, glimmering, oval design that makes the mirror appear both primitive and polished. It would be at home in a period room, Arts & Crafts bungalow, warming a modern space or layered into a bohemian mix.
Tons of individual, precision cut mirrors surround an oval looking glass. They also create the frame. These features make it one of our liveliest mirrors and, turns out, the most technically challenging to achieve. Here's the deal. The small components are cut into individual glass trapezoids. They have to be almost perfect (and perfectly graduated) trapezoid cuts because of the oval shape.
Subtle Variations in Reflectivity
Other mirrors use the same size over and over. The oval, however, requires that the pieces be cut at slightly different angles (on the long-side) to precision fit an oval shape.
Next, each element is silvered and antiqued to mimic the natural aging process of historical mirrors. Each piece is hand set to create subtle variations in reflectivity. The smoky, liquid lines are created by the antiquing process, which is naturally heavier at the edges for authenticity. Description:

- Keep purchases dust-free. Blot stains and liquids. When you need deeper cleaning, use a lightly damp cloth.
- Keep your purchase in a stable temperature and away from direct sun.
- Do not use any caustic chemicals or abrasives. Stay away from harsh cleaners like alcohol, acetone or ammonia. Only use glass cleaner on glass.
