BAN-112-OAS
We create this dynamic East-West bandana with heritage natural dyes. The design features a classic quatrefoil pattern outlined by creamy white, from a resist dyeing process called Dabu.
The quatrefoils sit on a beautiful indigo blue background overlayed with slender black chevrons, which give these bandanas an Art Deco edge. We scattered the design with date palm trees in yellow kashish to create another subtle, but lovely detail.
The blue color, pattern and texture come from natural indigo dyes. Artisans create the chevrons and iron black border from raw iron soaked in water. The dark khaki palms comes from oxidized harda, which is a South Asian fruit. Natural dyes become colorfast with natural mordants that bind the color to textiles, enduringly. This amazingly sophisticated heritage craft is a standard in sustainable fashion.
