Craftspeople start by saw-cutting the gemstones into small cubes. The next step is to turn the cut cubes into round beads by hand sanding the edges on a grinding wheel. Next, the beads go into a vibrating machine that knocks off small edges for a more uniform finish. Next, the beads are individually drilled, then strung on a stainless wire for on-the-go lifestyles.
